Dal Chawal Delight: A Comforting Indian Classic

Dal Chawal Delight: A Comforting Indian Classic

Dal Chawal - Comfort Zone

Trying to love you on my best level...

Don't leave me, stay with me like dal & chawal

Dal and Chawal the completely two different foods but when they come together tastes really good despite of their uniqueness. It is similar to the concept of relationship where two different personalities come together to complete each other. The couples being like dal and chawal are difficult to find in recent days because now-a-days couples would breakup very easily. But, have you ever heard that dal without rice or rice without dal. Leave it, this is apart from topic.

Before the arrival of products like Maggi, Dal Chawal was the only thing which used to come in mind whenever people feel butterflies in the stomach. No matter whether its five- or seven-star hotel's food, it doesn't make me feel good. What magic she (mom) sprinkles to Dal Chawal that taste makes me feel good, is still a mystery for me.

It is the prominent food of India. In South India, they call it as Sambhar Rice, in centre it is called as Dal Bhat & in north it is termed as Dal Chawal. While taking meal, South Indian prefers to eat rice initially whereas North Indian prefers to eat rice after eating Chapatis. It is the meal of comfort and the meal of happiness. Its importance in everyone's life might differ…

For Housewife - It is relaxing dish which won't need a long preparation process, just few min work and it's ready.

For Bachelors - It’s the food of survival, easy to make and taste best.

For Senior Citizens - It’s the easiest dish for chewing and digesting.

Type of Dal-Rice Combo: -

1. Jeera rice

2. Plain rice

3. Ghee rice, etc...

1. Dal fry

2. Dal tadka

3. Yellow dal

Majorly, Toor Dal (Pigeon Pea) is used for Dal preparation. Other pulses like Moong dal (Green Gram), Chana Dal (Split Chickpea), Masoor Dal (Red Lentils), etc are also used in different regions.

The weird fact many people might not heard is that Dal Chawal is often called as South dish....

South + North = Sourth

Generally, in India, Rice is majorly cultivated in Southern region whereas Pulses are majorly cultivated in Northern region. Due to which it also introduced as Sourth Dish.

In the world full of Restaurants, she is my home-cooked dal chawal ๐Ÿ˜
